Melvin Freeman, Ordained Minister, was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the Late Mary Louise Malone Freeman and the late Robert Freeman on October 6, 1959. Called home on December 26, 2020 he left this life with his family by his side. At an early age Melvin, being raised by his late grandmother Elgie Hodges, grew up in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He later joined the non-denomination faith as a foundational member of Divine Faith Ministries International, where he became affectionately known as “Deacon Freeman.” One can know they served well when other’s think your first name is “Deacon”. Melvin attended the famous Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, where he enjoyed being part of the football team and graduated in 1978. He then enlisted into the U.S. Army and later became a Reservist in the Army. After that he joined the City of Atlanta Police Department where he served in Zone 3 for 15 years in Patrol, Drug Management, Supervisor and Supervisor Court Security.
